IFAH
appoints new Executive Director…
…and
looks to the future of the global animal health industry
IFAH
is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Jean-Louis Delforge to
the post of Executive Director of the association. He will take up
office on 1 January 2002. A
Belgian national, Delforge graduated from the University of Liège with
a distinction and began his career as a veterinarian specialising in
immunology and virology. He went on to join the animal health industry,
where he has acquired over 25 years of experience with the Pfizer animal
health group (formerly Smithkline Beecham). Over and above his
scientific and technical expertise in various therapeutic fields,
Delforge is adept in a whole range of areas from business development,
management, and marketing, to finance and international commerce. Before
becoming a consultant in 2000, he was Director of business development
for European projects at Pfizer. At
a recent meeting of IFAH’s Board of Directors, the new Executive
Director expressed his delight at being appointed, saying that he was
looking forward to taking on with the association the range of
challenges facing the animal health industry. He anticipates eagerly his
new role in representing IFAH at various international and regulatory
bodies of importance to the industry. IFAH’s
President, Bruce Andrews (Alpharma), speaking on behalf of the Board,
thanked Dr Delforge for accepting the position and said that he is
looking forward to a bright future for the federation. He also expressed
his gratitude to Dr Anthony Mudd for his commitment as Acting Executive
Director since April 2000. Mudd leaves a strong association in place. As
the organisation representing the global animal health industry, IFAH is
working closely with manufacturers and national and regional
organisations to ensure that industry is effectively represented at all
key decision levels worldwide. For
further information, please contact Dr. Anthony J. Mudd, the IFAH
Secretariat. IFAH, the International Federation for Animal Health, represents globally manufacturers of veterinary medicines, vaccines, and other animal health and nutrition products. Its
