SIMV, an essential interlocutor in the Animal Health field in France



SIMV was founded more than 20 years ago in order to represent laboratories in charge of putting on the French market medicinal products for pets and breeding. 33 sociétés representing 99% of the French market (estimed at 717 million €uros) are members.

SIMV has 6 key missions which cover the whole of its members’ needs and consolidate its position as an unavoidable interlocutor :  

To Federate veterinary medicines and diagnostics manufacturers on major subjects. 31 laboratories representing 99% of the French market, are SIMV members.

To inform companies as well as the market, via our website www.simv.org, on :
- SIMV’s profession and intervention fields
- veterinary medicine industry laboratories in France
- annual market figures
- publications concerning animal health
- European Animal Health network, as well as all links useful to the profession
- press releases concerning our sector
- and creating a consumer’s information space

To advise members, thanks to the permanent SIMV staff, each in his/her own area of competence, and to 235 laboratory experts.

To observe :
- members commitments, particularly in the economic and commercial fields (Guide of Good  Practices of communication in Veterinary Medicines)
- commitments of official bodies' and partner Organizations

To represent members in decision-making structures. SIMV is Member of AFSSA Board (French Agency for Food safety), Member of CAMMV (Commission of Marketing Authorizations), Member of CNPV (National Veterinary Pharmacovigilance Commission) and Member of the National Pharmacopeia Commission. SIMV is also member of FEFIS, the French Federation of Health Industries.

SIMV’s Organization in its intervention fields

International affairs :

SIMV, member of the International Federation of Animal Health (IFAH) is involved in OIE (International Office of Epizooties) and Codex Alimentarius working groups.

European affairs :

SIMV has taken part in the constitution of a network of Animal Health National Associations in Europe, thus allowing them to pool experiences.

The executive committee

SIMV Chairman Jean-Louis HUNAULT was elected in September 2006 for a three-year term of office (consult the press release). The Executive Committee is composed of : Vet. Dr François BOST (MERIAL), Alain BRESSAND (VETOQUINOL), Vet Dr. Daniel DENAUD (PFIZER), Vet Dr. Nicolas DUMOULIN (BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM), Guy FEKETE (INTERVET / SCHERING PLOUGH), Vet. Dr. Pierre HENNING (VIRBAC), Vet Dr. Jean-Charles TISSOT (CEVA) and Vet Dr. Jean-Marc ZEIL (FORT DODGE).
