The French association for animal health industry (SIMV) represents manufacturers and marketers (on the French market) of medicines and reagents for pets and for farm animals. It is the DNA that runs through our entire industry, at the core of many of our interactions. France is the European leader in research and manufacture of veterinary medicines and reagents (with sales of 833 million euros in 2015), with over 6,700 employees, and the largest therapeutic arsenal in Europe (2,700 marketing authorisations). Furthermore, two in every three medicines produced in France are exported. The global attractiveness of France in matters of animal health lies in the density of this industrial, veterinary, and professional fabric, in its recognised scientific and technical expertise, and in the capacity of its manufacturers to invest in managing networked R&D projects and international projects.
In order to contribute to the competitiveness of its member companies, the SIMV, which has 39 member manufacturers, defines its value creation through its trades:
Federating the companies around joint or common projects;
Anticipating, in order to propose collective strategies in response to the expectations of society (strategy watch);
Advising/training/informing its members in its fields of action through a permanent team and also through a network of experts from its manufacturers;
Being watchful to ensure that its members keep their commitments, in particular in matters of professional conduct (Guide to good practices in communications, commercial practices, and training on veterinary medicines);
Representing the positions of its members in its decision-making environment.
